The exhibition will introduce new positive prints made from original Váchal negatives that were found in a private collection acquired by Miloš Šejn in the 1980s. These negatives are no longer kept together as a complete collection. The exhibition will display not only contact prints, but also enlarged photographs which manifest Vácha’s painterly photographic vision, often in a very powerful way. The exhibition will include several prints by Vácha in a dialogue with the photographs the created artwork was based on.
The exhibition aims to present Josef Váchal primarily as a photographer, thus continuing the loose cycle of introductions to significant figures of photography in the Regional Gallery.
